Honey in the Cross

“Our tendency in the midst of suffering is to turn on God. To get angry and bitter and shake our fist at the sky and say, "God, you don't know what it's like! You don't understand! You have no idea what I'm going through. You don't have a clue how much this hurts."

The cross is God's way of taking away all of our accusations, excuses, and arguments.

The cross is God taking on flesh and blood and saying, "Me too.”      -   Rob Bell

Honey in the Rock

There's nothing I love as much as honeysuckle. I wait for its sweet smell. And Tender little flowers that bloom wildly along our hedges. Once it starts growing it's hard to stop. It's like when we reach out to love one another. I remember once I suggested we plant honeysuckle. I remember my father aghast because honeysuckle is hard to control. But isn't that the point? Love is destined to grow and envelop all of us. It's hard to control.

Sometimes when we are out in nature, we see a flower or rock or a cloud that brings back a truth to us. For me, it was this flower in my own backyard. It reminded me that I am not alone in my sorrow. And that there is hope.

They are all out there.
